 Tastefully placed throughout our showroom, you’ll find an opulent assortment of original accent pieces, including sculptures, lamps, chandeliers and wall sconces embellished with precisely cut and lacquered seashells and eggshells. These durable, naturally radiant elements add sparkling detail to the well-appointed ambiance of any room. In a painstaking process, our artisans cut lustrous exotic shells, such as mother-of-pearl, abalone, and pen shells, into small sections or mosaics and inlay them into fine wood or create shapes to enhance accent pieces. Eggshells are also used to adorn various furnishings. Normally a creamy white, the eggshells can be “toasted,” or heated in fine sand to produce a variety of colors from golden tan to warm mahogany. Once carefully shaped or inlaid, the shells are polished with many layers of natural lacquer, first discovered in ancient China. The lacquer’s sheen brings out the unique markings and rich, variegated colors of the shells—a crowning touch of Colorado Style®. |
