Some of our fine furniture pieces feature marquetry and parquetry, an inlay process from northern Europe that adds beauty and value to the Colorado Style line including cabinets, dining tables and coffee tables. The technique reached new heights in the 17th century, further enhanced by the importation to Europe of rare and exotic woods from around the world. Shaped or veneered wood is applied to a furniture frame, forming a mosaic-like pattern or image on the surface. Marquetry designs may be floral or arabesque, but are always curvilinear, whereas parquetry designs are geometrical.
