Layered Hand Painted Furniture The Argento collection is inspired by Venice, Italy. Ever since the Renaissance the quality of light in this region was valued by artists and inspired paintings with rich palettes of colour. This diversity with layered hand painted detail of architecture and floral detail inspires this collection. In order to achieve the tactile and colorful surfaces craftspeople employ many intricate steps culminating in the hand painted and metal leaf finishes which make ‘Argento’ so unique. Depending on the finish the piece is either painted or applied with silvered metal leaf. Metal leaf comes in very small sections of approximately 10cm square and therefore this is a very labor intensive process, taking patience and immense skill to execute. Floral or architectectural detail is then painted in high relief onto the textured surfaces. |
