To create a comfortable atmosphere and an eclectic style for a home, traditional furniture design does not have to be abandoned. This is the true aim of this new collection from Colorado Style Home Furnishings, a furniture store in Denver – to provide a relaxed aesthetic rooted in the tenets of Northern European furniture design.
Heavily influenced by Belgian, Dutch and Scandinavian interiors, this collection provides a modern, lived-in look without sacrificing sophistication—and, just as importantly, it takes this look to a new level by creating pieces that are substantial and full of interesting shape.
Typical stark, weathered finishes are eschewed here for a subtle French Truffle finish and a contrasting Charcoal finish on white oak, creating bold pieces, but worn to perfection. The unique finishes, established by light cerusing, distressing and waxing, complement a balance of clean lines and delicate curves that showcase a meticulous craftsmanship and focus on movement. Details like fire blasted metal, forged iron, rich marble, flattened nail heads and scrolled hardware in a patinated iron finish round out this collection’s casual appeal. Welcome to a sophistication with a casual approach.

INSPIRATION
Northern European design influences lend to the collections rustic, refined appeal. Substantial forms and sophisticated shapes, such as scalloped edges and sweeping arcs, are also noteworthy.

FINISH
Rustic white oak with two unique finishes – a French Brown and Expresso – and feature light cerusing, distressing and waxing for added depth and character.

ARTISTRY
The low-sheen finishes with distressed edges create a casual, lived-in impression, but the shapes of the pieces evoke a bolder, more unique look and make a strong impression.

ACCENTS
Round nails and flattened rivets in a zinc finish pair well with a fire blasted metal to give a timeworn quality. Forged iron and rich stone also support the aged look of the collection.

HARDWARE
Metal knobs and pulls in a patinated iron finish, some with unique scrollwork back plates, are designed to add extra detail and ornamentation.
