Once this mold is dry, the craftsman fills it  with molten metal, such as <a title=\"bronze\" href=\"http:\/\/www.coloradostyle.com\/craftsmanship\/bronzes.php\">bronze<\/a> or brass. The wax model melts and drains out, or is \u201clost,\u201d through a  hole in the concrete.<\/p>\n<p>When cool, the mold is cracked open to reveal a  finely cast metal object identical to its wax predecessor. Meticulous  details are added before the piece is polished.  Finally, the artist  skillfully applies a custom finish by hand.
