Art Deco Furniture  Art Deco flourished internationally between 1925 and the 1940s. As a revolt against the sinuous forms of Art Nouveau, the Art Deco style drew on concepts of speed and angular aesthetics of post-war industrial progress.  It also adopted modern materials such as stainless steel in combination with luxurious materials.

20th Century European Furniture  Consists of furniture produced in 20th century Europe in styles other than those traditionally associated with specific movements in art, such as Art Deco, European Eclectic and Mid-Century Modern. This style shows unusual items and unique form and finish combinations.

Americana Furniture As the name suggests, Americana consists of furniture from the United States. It refers to early colonial pieces of the 17th century, distinctive versions of Chippendale furniture in the 18th century, the Federal period and of course the wonderful Folk Art that has emerged throughout America’s history.

In this period we see the simplicity of the Biedermeier style as well as the distinctive Italian forms of the late 19th century. It includes furniture produced in 19th century Europe that was not part of an overarching style such as Empire and Napoleon III for France, Regency and Victorian for England.

The 18th century is commonly referred to as “The Age of Enlightenment.” At the heart of this movement was a belief in science and exploration. Furniture styles reflecting this period include Americana for America; George I, II and III for England; Louis XV and Louis XVI for France.

17th Century European The furniture from this period encompasses the Italian Baroque and the French Grand Siècle, both known for bold carvings and curves, as well as the simple forms of European provincial furniture made by country craftsmen.
